Wegovy pill vs Foundayo

The Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide) vs Foundayo (orforglipron): how to take each, dose steps, trial results, side effects, and why no head-to-head trial exists.

Compares the two once-daily GLP-1 pills approved for weight management in adults. The Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide, Novo Nordisk, approved December 22, 2025) is taken on an empty stomach with up to 4 oz of water and a 30-minute wait, stepping from 1.5 mg to 25 mg over 90 days; it is also approved to lower cardiovascular risk. Foundayo (orforglipron, Eli Lilly, approved April 1, 2026) is a small-molecule pill taken any time, with or without food, stepping from 0.8 mg up to 17.2 mg. In separate placebo-controlled trials, average weight loss was 13.6% at 64 weeks on the 25 mg Wegovy pill (OASIS 4) and about 11% at 72 weeks on Foundayo's top dose (ATTAIN-1). There is no head-to-head trial; an indirect analysis by Novo Nordisk researchers favored oral semaglutide. Foundayo can affect birth-control pills.
