# Missed Ozempic Dose: What to Do

## The 5-day rule

Ozempic's labeling specifies that a missed dose can be taken within 5 days of the scheduled day. After 5 days, the next dose timing is close enough that doubling up isn't safe.

- <5 days late: inject ASAP, then resume your normal weekly day.
- >5 days late: skip it, take the next dose on schedule.
- If you've missed 2+ weeks: call your prescriber — you may need to restart at a lower dose to re-titrate.

## Will missing one dose set me back?

Probably not in a meaningful way. Semaglutide has a half-life of ~1 week — even after a missed week, blood levels remain partially active. Some patients notice appetite return or 'food noise' creep back; that's normal and resolves once dosing resumes.

## If you've missed 2+ weeks

Re-titration is often needed after gaps of 2 weeks or more. Don't just restart at your previous dose — GI side effects can be much sharper after a break. Your prescriber may have you step back down (e.g. from 1.0 mg → 0.5 mg) for a few weeks.
